QAI Ventures Launches Its First Quantum & AI Startup Accelerator at uptownBasel

A new chapter for quantum entrepreneurship begins at uptownBasel

QAI Ventures has officially launched its startup accelerator and venture capital activities in Arlesheim. Five selected startups from the fields of quantum computing and artificial intelligence are joining the inaugural accelerator cohort – bringing founders and technologies from Switzerland, Germany, the US and beyond into the growing QuantumBasel ecosystem.

More than 50 quantum enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, investors and experts from countries including the US, France, Germany, Austria, the UK and Scandinavia came together at uptownBasel to mark the launch.

At the heart of the event were five startups selected for the first QAI Ventures Accelerator cohort: Anaqor, Kipu Quantum, Miraex, Moonlight AI and qdc. Each team presented its technology and vision to the international audience.

Turning deep tech into businesses

Developing breakthrough technology is one challenge. Turning it into a scalable company is another.

This is where QAI Ventures comes in. The accelerator is designed to help promising founders bridge the gap between technological innovation and commercial application.

During the five-month program, the participating startups receive support in developing their businesses, access to an international mentor network and connections to industry partners. The goal is to help the companies strengthen their business models and prepare for future investment.

An important advantage is their direct connection to the QuantumBasel ecosystem. Through the program, the startups gain access to quantum computing technologies from QuantumBasel and its international hardware partners – enabling founders to work with some of the most advanced computing infrastructure available.

Five startups shaping the future of computing

The first cohort demonstrates the range of applications emerging around quantum computing and AI.

The startups are working on challenges ranging from making quantum computing more accessible and developing application-specific quantum solutions to connecting quantum technologies with real-world applications and using AI in cancer diagnostics.

What unites them is the ambition to transform highly advanced technologies into solutions with practical and commercial potential.

Technology, capital and entrepreneurship in one ecosystem

QAI Ventures adds an important element to the innovation ecosystem being built at uptownBasel.

While QuantumBasel provides companies and researchers with access to quantum computing expertise and infrastructure, QAI Ventures focuses on the entrepreneurs who are building the companies of tomorrow around quantum computing, AI and advanced computing.

By bringing technology, industry expertise, entrepreneurship and investment together at one location, the aim is to accelerate the journey from technological breakthrough to viable business.

The international character of the first accelerator launch demonstrates that this ecosystem reaches far beyond the Basel region.

Building the next generation of quantum companies from Arlesheim

The launch of the first QAI Ventures Accelerator marks another milestone in establishing uptownBasel as an international hub for emerging technologies.

For the five startups, July 10 marks the beginning of an intensive five-month journey. For uptownBasel, it represents something broader: another step towards creating an environment where ambitious founders can access the technology, expertise, networks and capital they need to turn ideas into companies.

From Arlesheim to the global quantum ecosystem – the first QAI Ventures Accelerator is underway.
