Arlesheim Says Yes to uptownBasel
We are very grateful to Arlesheim. At its assembly on 30 March 2022, the municipality approved the "Untere Weiden II" district plan by a clear majority of 114 votes to 20. The decision is an important milestone for the realisation of uptownBasel, and it reinforces our commitment to continue developing the project carefully and in close coordination with all stakeholders.
The basis for building uptownBasel
The district plan sets the framework for the development of the site in Arlesheim's Schoren area. It makes room for an international competence centre for Industry 4.0 with an investment volume of around half a billion francs and up to 2,500 jobs. A motion to reject the plan was clearly defeated in the assembly.
A project of cantonal significance
During the debate, municipal councillor Ursula Laager described uptownBasel as "a business area of cantonal significance with international impact."
The vote confirms the approach we have followed from the start: a project rooted in the region, developed step by step and in dialogue with the municipality, the canton and the people of Arlesheim. With the approval, the way is clear for the next construction phases.
