Straumann Group Invests CHF 18 Million in a New Technology and Innovation Center at uptownBasel

The Straumann Group today announced its plans for a new technology and innovation center at uptownBasel, the international competence center for Industry 4.0 in Arlesheim near Basel. The center will bring together teams from several locations in the region and strengthen technology and innovation in implantology and orthodontics. In total, Straumann is investing around CHF 18 million at uptownBasel. The group's headquarters remains in Basel.

What will move in

Alongside research and development, the center will house supply chain functions such as logistics and automated warehousing, as well as the activities of the Swiss sales company, including an interactive showroom for customers.

Why uptownBasel

Straumann chose uptownBasel above all for its excellent accessibility and its innovative technology environment. Further factors were the modern working environment and uptownBasel's sustainability strategy, for example in energy supply and building certification.

Timeline

Construction will start in 2022. The new technology and innovation center is scheduled to open in mid-2023.

"A clear commitment to the Basel region"

"The new technology and innovation center at uptownBasel supports our growth and innovation strategy," says Guillaume Daniellot, CEO of the Straumann Group. "Creating additional space and bringing together teams that are currently in separate locations not only strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration but will also help us align agilely with changing customer needs. The new building meets the most modern sustainability standards and offers our employees a modern working environment. Finally, this investment decision is a clear commitment to the Basel region."
