Topping-out for Building 8: reuse instead of demolition

With the topping-out ceremony for Building 8, uptownBasel reaches another significant milestone. It is visible proof that more than a single project is taking shape here — a place where innovation, research, and entrepreneurship come together.

What stands out is not just the speed: the building was completed in just 2 years and 7 months. Equally notable is that room remained for bold decisions along the way. For example, the existing hall was dismantled and parts of it — including steel beams — were reused rather than demolished. In addition, an exceptionally high share of 40 percent recycled concrete was used across all building components.
