A new QuantumBasel and IonQ study, accepted for IEEE Quantum Week 2026, suggests quantum computers could become more energy-efficient than classical GPUs for certain AI workloads once systems pass roughly 34 qubits — an "energy inflection point" that could matter for how AI is powered.

uptownBasel launches a new series, "Energy that thinks for itself," taking a first look at its battery energy storage system (BESS) — automatically balancing power for Swissgrid, cutting peak-load costs, and safely powering the campus's next phase of growth.

Built in just 2 years and 7 months, Building 8 at uptownBasel topped out using reused steel beams and 40 percent recycled concrete — proof that speed and sustainable construction can go hand in hand.

Safety on an innovation campus isn't just about technology — it's about people knowing how to react. After the latest unannounced evacuation drill at uptownBasel, Lead Operations Zelihe Alidemaj shares what went well, where gaps remain, and why safety is never a finished project.

Built on a fully redundant network architecture and protected by tamper-resistant Hardware Security Modules, the PHOENIQS AI Supercomputer delivers uninterrupted, sovereign AI operations with no single point of failure.

uptownBasel in Arlesheim has launched Switzerland's most powerful commercial AI supercomputer — giving companies and institutions full control over data, models, and workloads under Swiss jurisdiction, without relying on foreign hyperscalers.
