uptownBasel in Arlesheim was officially and festively opened on 8 September 2022 together with the cantonal government and 150 guests from business, science and politics — with Bouygues E&S, VINCI Energies and, soon, the Straumann Group among its tenants.

Building permits have been granted for a new CHF 50 million energy centre on the uptownBasel site, which will use waste heat and biomass to supply renewable heat to 25 existing networks across Reinach, Arlesheim and Münchenstein under the new "Wärmeverbund Birsstadt."

Arlesheim's municipal assembly approved the "Untere Weiden II" district plan by a clear majority, an important milestone for uptownBasel and a commitment to keep developing the project carefully and in close coordination with all stakeholders.

Large projects can have a large leverage effect. uptownBasel is upgrading a former industrial site in Arlesheim's Schoren area, looking at the buildings, their surroundings and their ecological connections.

The Basel-based medtech group is investing around CHF 18 million in a new technology and innovation center at uptownBasel, bringing together teams from across the region. Basel remains the group's headquarters.

VINCI Energies has opened the international IT/OT Security Operations Center of its brands Axians and Actemium at uptownBasel. It protects industrial companies against cyberattacks and coordinates regional SOCs across Europe.

On 26 July 2021, uptownBasel opened its innovation campus with Bouygues Energies & Services as its first tenant, after three years of preparation and two and a half years of construction.
